For the rest of 2020, a donor will be able to deduct up to $300 ($600 for a married couple) as a charitable deduction, regardless of whether or not they itemize their deductions. This “above the line” deduction only applies to cash gifts.
This change was part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act passed on March 27, 2020 to help taxpayers, businesses, and nonprofits in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic and economic downturn. We recommend you contact your financial advisor to explore how this and other changes in the CARES Act can help you as you support The Arc of Evansville.
