Interested in Volunteering? Our Child Life Center is in need of volunteers!

The Arc of Evansville is looking for individuals who are interested in volunteering as a Teacher Assistant in our Child Life Center.

As a volunteer, the Teacher Assistant will provide assistance with children’s activities in the Child Life Center’s 2-year-old children classroom which could include reading to children, participating in morning circle time, engaging in center free play, engaging in gross motor play indoors and outdoors, assisting children during snack and meals, engaging in art lessons, assisting the teachers and children to prepare for naps and more.  The Child Life Center serves children both with and without disabilities.

Compassion, understanding and patience are a must. Volunteers must also be comfortable sitting on the floor, bending, lifting, and being on your feet.  An understanding of children and child development is preferred.

A set weekly schedule is also preferred.  The following shifts are available Monday – Friday, and you may volunteer for multiple shifts:  8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Our most critical need is 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Interested individuals must be at least 18 years of age.  Volunteers will go through orientation and will undergo background screenings that may include a drug screening and a TB test in order to satisfy our licensing regulations.
