The Arc of Evansville’s Response to COVID-19

3/20/19 Letter from The Arc of Evansville President Deidra R. Conner

I am writing to provide an update about the measures The Arc of Evansville is taking to protect those served and our staff during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) crisis.   The Arc of Evansville has been in communication with the Vanderburgh County Health Department for guidance on how to best serve The Arc of Evansville clients during this crisis.  The Health Department strongly recommended that the day programs at The Arc of Evansville cease operations until the COVID-19 crisis is resolved.  After much discussion, we have decided to follow this recommendation.

Beginning Monday March 23, 2020, The Arc will temporarily suspend services to clients through the following programs until further notice:

  • Day Services For Adults;
  • Arc Industries;
  • Music Therapy; and
  • Connections For Life.

We will continue to provide Behaviors Support Services, Residential Services for individuals who do not reside in their families’ home, and Community Job Link services.

In addition, Arc Industries remains open to meet the packaging and distribution needs of our customers.  During this time, staff members from other agency programs that have been temporarily closed have been reassigned to Arc Industries to ensure that orders are fulfilled and to provide staff continued employment.

We will closely monitor the situation and will provide further updates as the plans change, and we are able to resume these services.  We recognize that these plans are disruptive; however, the safety and health of our clients and staff are our number one priority.  We truly appreciate your patience and continued support during this challenging time and look forward to serving our clients and community through these programs in the future.

Deidra R. Conner, President The Arc of Evansville
